So with negotiations between the Women’s National Basketball Players Association and the league for a new collective bargaining agreement in full swing, Ionescu figures, why start now?

Ionescu, a first-time WNBPA player representative for CBA talks, was resolute Friday that the players know their worth and are going to fight for as long as it takes.

“No matter how little or how big it is in this negotiation, it’s just understanding we’re not going to just take the minimum,” Ionescu said. “We’re not just going to take something because it’s kind of hung over our heads and it’s a lot more than we’re making now.
