Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson shocked the hosts of The Today Show when they were caught making out on camera during Tuesday’s (July 29) broadcast.

The unexpected moment happened when Craig Melvin teased his upcoming interview with The Naked Gun co-stars ahead of the commercial break. “Get ready for some laughs,” he said as the camera panned to Neeson and Anderson embracing each other and sharing a kiss. “Did they just kiss! They’re making out on The Today Show!” Melvin said.

Romance rumors have been swirling since they’ve kicked off the promotional tour for The Naked Gun, with some sources claiming they’re “enjoying each other’s company” and in the “early stages” of a “budding romance.”

Melvin, of course, had to address the moment when he finally sat down with the stars and replayed the kiss for them. “What’s the deal here? You’re both single right now. There’s clearly chemistry on display throughout this film. Are you two an item?” he asked.

Neeson pretended to admonish Melvin. “Craig,” he said, appearing shocked by the question.

Anderson similarly played coy as she replied, “I don’t understand the question.”

The actors didn’t necessarily deny or confirm the relationship rumors, however, Neeson did have a lot of praise for his Naked Gun co-star.

“I had never met Pamela before. We met on set, and we discovered we had a lovely, budding chemistry as two actors,” he said. “And it was like, ‘Oh, this is nice. Let’s not mold this. Let’s just let it breathe,’ and that’s what we did.” Anderson also added that they share a “natural chemistry.”

Melvin teased, “So, that’s what we’re doing right now. We’re watching the beginning of the breathing of a budding relationship. Okay!” Neeson then hinted that Melvin was stirring the pot by fueling the rumors.

The new action comedy stars Neeson as Lt. Frank Drebin Jr., who is following in his father’s footsteps to solve a murder case when he meets his femme fatale love interest, played by Anderson. The film is a direct sequel to the legendary comedy series.

The Naked Gun premieres in theaters Aug. 1.
