Decent Americans are grieving the loss of so many lives, and so many young lives, in Friday’s Texas flooding — but unhinged lefties insist on politicizing the horror, working out their resentments or trying to blame President Donald Trump.
A sick, racist former Houston mayoral appointee, Sade Perkins, called Camp Mystic, one hard-hit site, a “white-only girls’ Christian camp.”
What a thing to focus on.
No one would care if the kids were minorities, Perkins suggested as she blamed Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and “your friendly MAGA Trump” for . . . a natural disaster.
Pediatrician Christina B. Propst similarly spewed hate, saying the victims got “what they voted for” (she assumes!) and wishing safety for only “non-MAGA voters and pets.”
Such deranged venom is the upshot of years of race-based grievance-mongering on the left, along with radical dehumanizing of Americans who happen to think differently.
Plus (for the politicians and media, anyway), the “anything’s fair game” approach to attacking Trump: Hence all the Democrats wrongly suggesting that Team Trump slowed the disaster response, with Texas Rep. Julian Castro and our own Sen. Chuck Schumer raging over National Weather Service cuts that . . . don’t become effective until Oct. 1.
Never mind that the NWS sounded major warnings from Thursday afternoon on, with an urgent “catastrophic” labeled warning at 1:14 a.m. Friday — all hours before the flooding began.
Independent meteorologists, left-leaning NBC News reports, say NWS’s warnings were about as timely and accurate as could be expected; also-lefty Politico likewise found “absolutely no evidence Trump’s NWS cuts had any impact on what happened.” Indeed: “The picture that’s emerging is one of a National Weather Service that did its job” as the nightmare unfolded.
Sorry: Doubling down on deranged demonization, even as searchers still seek to recover bodies and (fingers crossed) rescue any remaining survivors, only makes things worse.
Liberals and progressives are supposed to care about people, not stew in hate.
