LeBron James would still be the king even if he never played in Miami — according to him.
That was the sentiment that James gave off Tuesday in a post on X that doubled down on comments he made the day earlier.
On Monday, James said he would still be the same dominant player that he is known as today even without his four seasons in South Beach, where he won two NBA titles.
“I think I would still be at this level no matter if I would’ve came here or not,” James told ESPN. “Let’s not get it twisted: The four years I was here, it was amazing. I loved everything about it. Loved this franchise, this franchise is top tier, it’s one of the best franchises in the world. But as far as my career, my career was going to be my career as far as individually, because I know how much I put into the game and I know how much I strived to be as great as I can be.
“[But] as far as what I was able to learn here was second to none, that’s for sure.”
James reiterated those feelings in a social media post on Tuesday night, quoting a post that discussed the original ESPN story.
“You damn right I would still be! I’m CHOSEN! Ain’t nothing changing that! Maybe less [rings] but DOMINANT from start to finish,” he wrote on X, ending the post with a crown emoji.
Over his four years with the Heat, James captured two NBA Finals, won two NBA MVP awards and helped usher in the super team era by joining forces with Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade.
Now, James is at the tail end of his career and looking to lead the Lakers to a title this season after last winning one in the COVID bubble in 2020.
But it’s been a rough start this season, as the Lakers have dropped four of their first seven games.
The NBA superstar, on the other hand, is averaging 25.3 points per game on 56.1 percent shooting from the field and 32.5 percent from 3-point range.
