The King is nothing without his Queen.
LeBron James opened up about his marriage with wife Savannah James, whom he’s been with since high school, and how he will “fight, crawl, scratch, bite” to make his marriage work.
The 21-time NBA All-Star appeared on Tuesday’s episode of the “Everybody’s Crazy” podcast, hosted by his wife and April McDaniel, along with actor and rapper Travis Bennett and streamers Fanum and Kai Cenat.
The group was discussing relationships when James, 40, revealed the depths he would go to in order to protect his marriage.
“I know I don’t want to be alone, that’s for damn sure. If I got to fight, crawl, scratch, bite, whatever to keep mine, I got to keep it,” James said with his wife sitting to his left.
“I have to do what I have to do. I don’t want to be alone. I’m an only child, single-parent household. I knew for sure. … when I got with ‘Vannah, I was like: ‘This s–t is crazy. This is amazing. I love this s–t. I’m like, nah, f–k that [being alone]. Next time I’m alone, I’ll be underneath.’”
James has been candid about his relationship in the past and just in a recent interview with Complex, explained that his marriage isn’t always picture perfect and that “s–t ain’t always going to be a bed of roses.”
“If you’re OK with working through the hardships and the adverse moments, then it will make it all worth it,” James said in the Complex interview.
Among the relationship advice that James dished out while appearing on “Everybody’s Crazy” was his warning of the horror stories he’s heard from teammates about the “cutthroat, ruthless-ass bitches.”
“I sit in the locker room and, s–t now, and there’s a lot of women out here that’s now flipped the script,” he said. “And some homies are out here trying to be good, too, trying to figure it out. And now they are looking in the mirror saying: ‘Damn, what did I do wrong?’”
James is headed into his 23rd season of his NBA career as speculation continues about his future in the league.
At age 40, James is likely nearing the end of his time, though he has not indicated when he may finally step away. He will miss the start of the season with right side sciatica.
