Bless Netflix‘s heart because they are giving Leanne Morgan and Chuck Lorre‘s sitcom, Leanne, a Season 2!
On Monday, the streaming service announced that the series — which stars and is executive produced by the stand-up comedian and the Two and a Half Men creator — will return for another full season, likely 16 more half-hour episodes after Season 1’s massive success.
“We’re coming back for a second season! I am so grateful to all the writers, producers, Netflix, WB, our amazing cast and especially for all the fans of the show,” Leanne said in an interview with Netflix’s Tudum. “Y’all did this for us and we can’t wait to be back!”
Lorre added, “Much thanks and gratitude to Netflix for this amazing opportunity. Congrats to Leanne and the entire cast and crew. This has been an incredible journey that began with a visit to Knoxville, Tennessee. Leanne Morgan is the whole package. A comedic genius, a warm, loving human being, and an absolute joy to work with.”
The series, which follows a fictionalized version of Leanne’s life as her character navigates the break-up of her 33-year marriage with the help of her sister (Kristen Johnston), also stars Ryan Stiles, Celia Weston, Tim Daly, Blake Clark, Hannah Pilkes, Graham Rogers, and Jayma Mays.

Even before the show got the pick up for a second season, the cast and crew members were crossing their fingers that Netflix would give the green light to make more episodes. In July, DECIDER spoke with co-creator Susan McMartin, who said that she and everyone else are dying to keep exploring the complicated and beautiful life of a woman starting over.
“Oh my God, I hope we are, because there are so many stories to tell,” McMartin said of coming back for a Season 2,”More than anything, we all found love.”
Meanwhile, Lorre told DECIDER that he would love to incorporate one particular actor into his newest Netflix show years after they first got to work together on another hit for the major streamer: The Kominsky Method.
“I truly did love working with Michael Douglas, that was a joy. So anyway he could walk through anything that I’m doing would be a joy to do again,” he said.

The Leanne renewal news also comes on the heels of Netflix and Leanne announcing that her next stand-up special, Leanne Morgan: Unspeakable Things, will premiere on November 4. In her second taped special for the streaming platform, she will be“opening up about everything—from newfound stardom and family life, to trying CBD for the first and last time, serving up the kind of real, relatable, and sometimes cheeky stories you can’t get enough of.”
Unspeakable Things follows 2023’s I’m Every Woman, which received rave reviews and became one of the app’s most popular family-friendly comedy specials. Leanne Morgan: I’m Every Woman is also streaming on Netflix.
