Jason Kennedy and wife Lauren Scruggs are expecting their second child!

The overjoyed pair rushed to Instagram Tuesday to share the exciting news with friends and fans, revealing that the news came as a “major surprise.”

The former E! News host Kennedy, 41, and Scruggs, 34, are already parents to son Ryver, whom they welcomed in April 2022 following years of fertility struggles.

“This was a major surprise and the sweetest plot twist — I cannot wait to watch little Ryver be a big brother ????????????????,” the doting mom wrote on Instagram alongside a video montage.

In the sweet clip, Kennedy holds up a positive pregnancy test while telling his son, “Peek a boo! You’re gonna be a big brother.”

Kennedy’s former E! News co-host Giuliana Rancic congratulated the pair, writing, “Love you all so much!!! So so so happy for your sweet beautiful family ❤️❤️❤️.”

“CONGRATS ???????????? could not have happened to two sweeter people xoxo,” actress Kate Bosworth wrote.

Kennedy and Scruggs – who tied the knot in December 2014 – announced they were expecting their first child in September 2021 after almost five years of trying.

The pair shared a sweet clip on social media to announce the exciting news.

The pair went on to welcome their baby boy in April 2022, with Kennedy revealing that his wife had to have a vacuum extraction during delivery.

The birth was made harder after the pair planned to welcome Ryver at home, but Scruggs endured a tough 23-hour labor that resulted in a fourth-degree vaginal tear.

In January 2021, the couple decided to publicly chronicle their process of undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF.)

“It’s always tough when a doctor tells you you can’t have kids naturally and you keep running into complications, but we didn’t sit and wallow in that,” Kennedy told People at the time. “We were really blessed to meet with some amazing doctors and specialists.”

Of their decision to share their IVF journey via social media, Kennedy told the outlet that his wife was “game for everything.”

“We quickly realized that posting about our story welcomed us into a community of people going through the same thing,” he said. “We were deeply moved by the love and support of so many people that were rooting us on in our fertility journey.”
