Kyren Wiliams learned ball security from his mother.
Taryn Williams, the mother of the Rams’ breakout running back, fought off a Giants fan to secure the ball Kyren intended to give to her following a touchdown in the Rams’ 26-25 win Sunday over the Giants at MetLife Stadium.
Kyren won plenty of fantasy football managers their championship games Sunday by rushing for 87 yards and three touchdowns, and his third touchdown – a 28-yard scamper – gave the Rams a 26-19 lead with 12:03 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Right after he scored, Kyren jumped toward the front row of the end zone to give the ball to Taryn – but it wasn’t that easy.
A fan dressed in an alternate Saquon Barkley jersey attempted to wrestle the ball away from Taryn, who wasn’t having any of it.
As Taryn and the fan wrestled for the ball, Kyren actually waved his hand toward the Giants fan to attempt to shoo him away.
Taryn and the fan started pulling the ball, but Taryn emerged the victor to secure the ball.
The Fox broadcasting crew broke down the tussle.
“One-on-one matchup right here, looks like the Giants fan and has and that’s a dip and rip, you see that?” former Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez said during the broadcast. “She used her momentum, got into his body, real tight and then yanked it out.”
The NFL X account even tweeted: “Don’t mess with @Kyrenwilliams23’s mom ????.”
This isn’t the first time Kyren has tossed his mother the ball, with the Notre Dame product also doing so after scoring against the Saints in Week 16.
Williams has 1,144 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns for the Rams, who clinched a playoff berth Sunday.
Los Angeles is currently the sixth seed in the NFC playoffs, but could be the seventh seed if it loses in Week 18 to the 49ers and the Packers beat the Bears.
