The Knicks must really like Isaiah Roby.
They are signing the forward ahead of their regular-season finale on Sunday against the Pacers through next season, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, even though Roby is not eligible for the NBA playoffs because he was on the Spurs’ roster after March 1.

Wojnarowski reported the Knicks were giving the 25-year-old “significant guaranteed money,” and The Athletic reports that Roby is getting $400,000 just for the final day of the season.
Roby then won’t have guaranteed money going into next season, per The Athletic, so the Knicks are paying a large up-front price to make sure Roby is in the fold for the 2023-24 campaign.
The 6-foot-8, 230-pound Roby was waived by the Spurs on March 3 after he averaged 4.1 points and 2.5 rebounds in 11.3 minutes across 42 games.
San Antonio claimed Roby off waivers last summer after he was waived by the Thunder, where he had spent the previous three seasons.

In 45 games for Oklahoma City last season, Roby averaged 10.1 points and 4.8 rebounds in 21.1 minutes per game.

The season prior, he averaged 8.7 points and 5.6 rebounds in 23.4 minutes across 61 appearances.
Roby was a second-round pick by the Pistons in 2019 and traded to the Mavericks, who assigned him to the G League.
Dallas traded Roby to Oklahoma City in January 2020.
