NextImg:Kliff Kingsbury won’t take Raiders offensive coordinator job in stunning twist

The Raiders will have to continue their offensive coordinator search.

Kliff Kingsbury, who had been expected to take the Las Vegas role, is now taking his name out of the running for the job, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Saturday.

According to The Athletic, while a deal had not been previously agreed to, both the Raiders and Kingsbury thought it was a “formality”

Kingsbury, the former head coach of the Cardinals from 2019-22, was expected to get a deal done with the Raiders, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported Thursday.

After not getting another head coaching gig, he spent last season as a senior offensive analyst and quarterbacks coach at USC.

Kingsbury also interviewed for offensive coordinator jobs in Philadelphia and Chicago, but those went to Kellen Moore and Shane Waldron, respectively.

Ian Rapoport previously reported that the Raiders interviewed former Eagles head coach Chip Kelly twice.

But for now, it remains murky about where the Raiders will look to for their next offensive coordinator.
