Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is suspected to have torn his Achilles in Sunday’s 24-10 win over the Packers, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
An MRI exam will be taken to confirm the extent of the injury.
Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said postgame that Cousins “is being evaluated for a serious Achilles injury,” according to the Minnesota-based KFAN.
If an MRI confirms that Cousins’ season is over, next week’s game against the Falcons will mark the first time the quarterback will sit out due to injury.
The only NFL game Cousins has missed was because of COVID.
Cousins, 34, was spotted hopping off the field on his left foot around 10 minutes into the fourth quarter.
He grimaced in pain as he sat on the bench with his right foot in the air.
Before the injury, Cousins went 23-for-31 for 274 yards and two touchdowns.
Jaren Hall later took over to close out the game, going 3-for-4 for 23 yards.
The Jets may no longer be the only team to have their season plagued by an Achilles injury after Aaron Rodgers went down just four plays into the team’s opener versus the Bills.
