Kirk Cousins will be perhaps the biggest quarterback on the NFL free-agent market this offseason but don’t expect him to go anywhere.
Oddsmakers are anticipating a Cousins-Vikings reunion despite the veteran quarterback’s contract status being up in the air for 2024 and beyond.
Minnesota is a heavy -200 favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook to be the team Cousins takes his first snaps for next season, although a number of teams are looming as potential fits if an unlikely break-up occurs.
Cousins and the Vikings are in a bit of a unique situation after Cousins he a season-ending Achilles tear during Week 8 last season, potentially bringing his six-year tenure in Minnesota to an end.
When healthy last season, Cousins threw for 2,331 yards, 18 touchdowns, and just five interceptions and even played himself into the fringes of early NFL MVP conversations.
The Vikings gave a handful of starts to Joshua Dobbs and Nick Mullens in Cousins’ absence last season, but aren’t expected to head into 2024 with either behind center after disappointing results from the pair.
Should Cousins depart, the Atlanta Falcons (+300) are the clear favorites to bring the four-time Pro Bowler in.

The Falcons are widely expected to bring in a quarterback from outside the organization this offseason and are already highly in the mix for Justin Fields and Russell Wilson.
Team | Odds |
---|---|
Minnesota Vikings | -200 |
Atlanta Falcons | +300 |
New England Patriots | +800 |
Pittsburgh Steelers | 10/1 |
Las Vegas Raiders | 10/1 |
San Francisco 49ers | 18/1 |
Washington Commanders | 20/1 |
Tennessee Titans | 20/1 |
Denver Broncos | 22/1 |
The New England Patriots (+900), who are also likely to make an addition at quarterback, are the only other team with odds better than 10/1.
In a vacuum, Cousins, who will be 36 at the start of next season, would be an upgrade for arguably at least half of the teams in the NFL.
But when you take into account his age, Achilles injury, and potential high price tag, it’s hard to see Cousins finding a better fit than the one he’s called home for the last six seasons.
