Kim Kardashian did not come to play on American Horror Story: Delicate. The reality star — already crowned the MVP of the first half of the season — continues to steal the spotlight in the 12th installment of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s hit anthology series.
In the season, Kardashian plays hardworking publicist Siobhan, whose client Anna Victoria Alcott (Emma Roberts) is dominating the awards circuit with the release of her movie The Auteur.
However, Anna begins experiencing strange happenings during her pregnancy which has gotten in the way of her rising stardom.
Siobhan quickly became a fan-favorite character with her quick wit and unpredictable plot points, and is even poised to be the season’s villain. Though, the character would be nothing with Kardashian at the helm.
The reality star has even impressed folks behind the scenes and is set to star in Murphy’s upcoming legal drama.
Episode 6 of Delicate, “Opening Night,” which premiered Apr. 3 on FX and streams next-day on Hulu, sees Siobhan in a couple of dramatic predicaments. First, she’s tasked with getting Anna out of the house following the sudden death of her colleague and competition.
When Anna says she isn’t supposed to travel per the doctor’s orders, Siobhan convinces her to do so anyway. “It was empowering getting on that plane,” Anna eventually tells her publicist. “I didn’t listen to the men, you know, my husband and the doctor. I listened to me.”
“You mean me,” Siobhan responds before theorizing about Anna’s supposed illness. “Maybe it was just gas. Always get a second opinion.
This isn’t the first time Siobhan has chimed in on Anna’s health as in the first half of the season, she gives her a briefcase of vials filled with red liquid to nurse her back to wellness.
In the episode, Siobhan also goes head-to-head with the director of Anna’s movie, who winds up dead after he threatens to reveal damaging information to the press. But Siobhan’s biggest moment comes towards the end when she slaps Anna for threatening to leave the industry.
“I think I need to quit. I didn’t realize I signed up for all of this. I wanted to tell stories, and maybe get a little attention. Wear some couture. Is that a crime? I didn’t think I’d be stalked or that Babette would die,” Anna says while the two are eating dinner. “How can I bring a baby into a world where none of us are safe?”
“That’s what being a mother is,” Siobhan responds.
“Just let me leave. I can’t keep campaigning for this fucking Oscar,” Anna argues.
Siobhan loses her patience with her client and delivers a sharp slap against Anna’s face — which leaves Anna recoiling in pain.
“I will not let you fucking say another word about quitting. Let go of your dream to protect your baby? Is that what you think your baby wants? An unfulfilled mother who secretly resents its own existence. Is that what your mother died for? I don’t want to hurt you, but what I really don’t want is you hurting yourself,” Siobhan says convincingly.
The publicist then gives a speech about the sacrifices mothers often make for their children and tells Anna to stop “whining” about the things she’s scared of.
Well, nothing can top that! Kardashian has, once again, stolen the spotlight, despite the show’s obvious want for viewers to pay attention to Cara Delevingne‘s twisty appearances. While it’s clear that there’s something off about Siobhan, she never fails to bring the drama, the fashion, and the sass. But maybe next time she should refrain from slapping a pregnant woman…
