Kim Kardashian has come to the defense of her 12-year-old daughter, North West, standing up for the pre-teen’s right to lean into her own personal style.
Speaking to Alex Cooper on the latest episode of “Call Her Daddy,” Kardashian shares how difficult it has been for West to grow up in the public eye, explaining that she loves to experiment with style, just as all of her friends do.
“It’s really hard and it’s really interesting because all the kids are wearing the same things,” explains Kardashian, adding, “But then my daughter tries to wear it and then I’m like, ‘okay, we’re never wearing that again.’ Unfortunately, we made that mistake in front of the whole world.”
The mom of four was recently under fire for letting her eldest wear a black corset and mini skirt while on vacation this summer in Rome.
Fans took to social media to slam Kardashian, writing, “Not a fan of a bustier on a 12-year-old,” and “preserve her innocence and be more mindful about her wardrobe.”
At the end of the day, though, it’s no one’s business what West wears besides, well, West herself.
Kardashian shares that she supports her daughter no matter what, saying, “As a mom, you’re kind of learning at the same time. But what I do know is my baby’s such a good girl and such a sweet girl.”
And when it comes to her style? “She does listen to me, but in other areas, I’m like, ‘Babe, if you want blue hair, it is what it is.’ You know, it makes her so happy. I would never take that creativity away from her.” Kardashian adds, “I just think anyone that’s raising kids, especially four kids by myself, I’m doing the best that I can.”
North West has been an internet sensation and mini style icon practically since birth, following in the footsteps of her famous mother.
But, on “Call Her Daddy,” Kardashian asks of the world, “I think like any mom of a teenager or a preteen, unless you’ve been here, please, we just need a little bit of grace.”
