NextImg:Kieran Culkin Describes What It Was Like Working With Ex-Girlfriend Emma Stone (Again) On ‘A Real Pain’

Hot off the heels of his recent Emmy win, Succession star Kieran Culkin attended the Sundance premiere for his new film A Real Pain, where the actor opened up about what it was like working with his ex-girlfriend Emma Stone, who serves as a producer on the film.

According to Culkin, there’s nothing but love between him and his former flame, whom he dated for a year way back in 2010.

“She’s great,” he said to E! News on the red carpet. “She’s a really wonderful person.”

Culkin continued to praise the Oscar-nominated actress, saying he was glad to know at least one other person on set when he first began working on A Real Pain.

“It’s nice because you go into a job and most of the time you don’t really know anybody, but in this case, going in, I’m like, ‘Oh, OK, well at least that part’s taken care of,'” he said.

Stone and Culkin dated over a decade ago after first meeting on the set of Paper Man. A Real Pain won’t be their first time working together after their breakup, however. The former couple starred alongside each other in the 2013 comedy Movie 43.

Culkin has since married his wife Jazz Charton, with whom he shares two children. He recently made headlines after he told Charton during his Emmys acceptance speech that he wanted “more” kids.

“Thank you for sharing your life with me and for giving me two amazing kids,” he said, directly addressing Charton in the audience. “And, Jazz, I want more. You said, maybe, if I win.”

Stone has also since married comedian Dave McCary, who has become her producing and filmmaking partner. The couple launched a production company together during the pandemic called Fruit Tree, which launched with Jesse Eisenberg‘s 2022 directorial debut When You Finish Saving The World.

Stone and McCary also produced Eisenberg’s A Real Pain.

The 2024 release is a dramedy about two cousins (played by Eisenberg and Culkin) who travel to Poland after their grandmother’s death.

The film recently premiered at Sundance, though it has not set a streaming or theatrical release date.
