More On:

Kesha was almost a bride-to-be.

The “TiK ToK” singer revealed in a new interview with Rolling Stone Tuesday that she was secretly engaged at one point in time – but called it off.

Kesha, 36, did not reveal the identity of her ex or share any further details about the failed engagement.

However, she noted that the man who proposed to her is “still a friend” and that “Too Far Gone” – a song off of her upcoming album, “Gag Order” – was written after they parted ways.

Page Six has reached out to Kesha’s rep for more information but, at this time, the identity of her mystery ex remains unknown.

The “Die Young” singer has most recently been in a longterm relationship with writer Brad Ashenfelter. They first began dating in 2014.

Throughout their courtship, the couple maintained a relatively low profile but were seen going for a romantic stroll together on a beach in May 2021.

It is unclear if they have called it quits. However, Kesha has previously been open about the fact that they were not in a monogamous relationship.

“He’s a sweetheart, but he also lets me be me,” the “We R Who We R” singer said of Ashenfelter in an interview with Attitude magazine in 2019.

“You know, I’ll call him and be like, ‘I had fun tonight, I met a sweet girl and we had a really good time.’ And he’ll say, ‘Cool babe, I love you.’ It’s so nice.”

Kesha also said at the time that Ashenfelter recognized her “needs to run free” but that she would “always come back to the barn for apples from my boy!”

Last June, Kesha – who also briefly dated Australian drummer Alex Carapetis from August to November 2010 – opened up on social media about continuing to explore her sexuality.

“I’m not gay. I’m not straight. I don’t know what I am. I love people,” the “Praying” singer wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post.

“I love people because we are all our own little consciousness journeys, dancing around the sun ☀️ how weird and interesting and fun this life is, right?”

She then concluded, “I refuse to be anything, really, except for open to it all ????.”

While promoting her new album, Kesha also told Rolling Stone that she feels like she’s “giving birth” to “the most intimate thing” she’s ever created with “Gag Order,” out May 19.

“I really dug into some of my uglier emotions and sides of myself that are less fun,” she teased of the new project, produced by Rick Rubin.

“It’s scary being vulnerable. The fact that I have compiled an entire record of these emotions, of anger, of insecurity, of anxiety, of grief, of pain, of regret, all of that is so nerve-racking — but it’s also so healing.”

“Gag Order” will also address some of Kesha’s ongoing legal disputes with producer Dr. Luke, particularly with the song “Fine Line.”

She told Rolling Stone, “I feel as if there has been an implied gag order for a very long time now.”
