It was a pleasurable feeling.
Country music star Kelsea Ballerini revealed that she used to think of sex as a one-way transaction before she met her current boyfriend Chase Stokes.
“I didn’t understand how [sex] could be a real connector in a relationship,” Ballerini told the “Call Her Daddy” podcast on Wednesday. “I always thought it was just something that you did … Now, I realize it’s a connector for people.”
Ballerini, who has declared that her private life will remain private, did let slip that she often felt like whenever she engaged in sex, it was “performative.”
“My experience with it was very performative and for the other person,” Ballerini said. “It don’t be like that anymore.”
The “Half of My Hometown” songstress also claimed that he “Outer Banks” boyfriend Chase Stokes is the reason behind her new mindset.
“He’s the most emotionally intelligent man I’ve ever met in my life,” Ballerini gushed. “I keep telling him he’s a man written by a woman.”
The “If You Go Down” singer and the actor reportedly met in December of 2022 before officially confirming their relationship earlier this year.
According to sources, the duo met shortly after Ballerini and fellow country singer Morgan Evans finalized their divorce in November 2022 only after 5 years of marriage.
“Friends, I’ve always tried my best to share my life with you in a real and vulnerable way, while also protecting layers of my personal life as they unfold,” Ballerini began in an Instagram statement.”
“This is now public record so I wanted you to hear from me directly that I am going through a divorce,” the statement continued. “This deeply difficult decision is the result of a journey of love, growth, and effort that ultimately has come to an end.”
“It’s hard to find the words here… but I feel extremely grateful for the years of marriage to Morgan and hopeful for the next seasons,” she wrote. “With very active schedules coming up, please be mindful that we are both fragile, actively healing, and showing up the best we can.”
Evans, 38, also released a statement.
“I am very sad to confirm that after almost five years of marriage, Kelsea and I are parting ways. I wish it were otherwise but sadly it is not,” he wrote.
Despite the amicable split, the duo began performing several altered songs that seemed to take aim at each other.
In September, Ballerini released a bunch of flirty DMs between her and Stokes which led to her relationship.
The incredibly non-salacious messages consist of Ballerini saying “hi” to Stokes around 1 a.m. and Stokes replying “Hey, how are you doing” a few hours later.
Since then, the happy couple has been spotted on the red carpet for various awards together and Stokes has been spotted at several of Ballerini’s shows.
