Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos got to honor their youngest child on Live with Kelly and Mark this morning.

The co-hosts kicked off Monday’s episode by shouting out their son Joaquin, who turns 22 years old today.

“Hey wait a minute, before we start the show, we want to say a very happy 22nd birthday to our newborn baby, Joaquin Consuelos,” Ripa said.

Consuelos asked, “How do you feel?”

Ripa admitted, “I’m in denial about it.”

While the two basked in how their youngest of three children is “all grown up,” they also told viewers that they got to celebrate with the whole family this weekend in Ann Arbor.

“He was in a production of A Few Good Men at the University of Michigan this weekend, which was extraordinary,” Ripa explained. “And then it was senior night for the wrestling team… We had a tale of two completely different experiences.”

Ripa also recalled doing a “quick change” out of her theater clothes into her “wrestling mom clothes” in the car in order to make it to the wrestling arena. Consuelos noted that the “graduating wrestlers” were honored as they “walk on the mat.”

“They have an intermission — half time,” Consuelos clarified, prompting Ripa to tease that “everything”to her and Consuelos was “backstage.”

“We went backstage at the sports arena, I guess which is called the locker room,” she quipped. “So we were backstage, and then we went onstage, which would be on the [mat].”

Consuelos acknowledged that their son running over from the theater to the arena must have been a “surreal” experience for him.

Ripa noted, “I just made sure he took his make-up off before he went over. It’s not very threatening when you’re in full theatre make-up.”

After sharing some pictures from the weekend, they took a moment to brag on their son’s behalf, praising his ability to manage involvement in both the theater program and Division I athletics.

Ripa chimed in, “And going to school.”

Consuelos joked, “I think he went to school.”

While Consuelos confessed that “there were doubts that we would get to this point,” he gushed that he is “really really proud” of their son’s success.

“So happy birthday, Joaquin. You’re probably sleeping right now,” he teased. “Go to class! Get up and go to class.”

However, they did poke fun at their son for his messy car, which they took a ride in over the weekend.

“I was like, ‘Oh, this is where the disfunction happens,'” Ripa remembered. “Because I got into the car and I was like, ‘Would you like us to clean out your car?’ Because I was concerned for my own personal health and hygiene… It was the mind of a person who’s carrying a heavy load.”
