You can bake your pie and eat it too… but apparently, you can’t post a picture of it.

Kelly Ripa recalled a tense social media encounter on Live with Kelly and Mark on Wednesday after Mark Consuelos told viewers they would be baking cherry pie pockets with Joanne Molinaro, known as “The Korean Vegan,” later in the episode.

“Here’s something I never knew I needed in my life: cherry pie pockets,” Ripa gushed. “It sounds delicious.”

Consuelos informed Ripa that they would be “doing some crimping”—a technique employed to seal the edges of a pie crust— which Ripa confirmed that she can do.

“Yeah, I can crimp,” she said.

Consuelos replied, “I know you can.”

Ripa added, “Yeah. Of course I can. I’m a baker. But I’ve never made a cherry pie pocket.”

She told Live that she “made a cherry pie once,” and how her decision to share a picture of it on social media led to some chaos in the comments section.

“I posted a picture of it on Instagram because I was so proud of myself that I had made a homemade cherry pie. And I mean, I pitted the cherries,” she explained. “Like, I was not using the garbage. I made a fresh, homemade cherry pie. I tried to do lattice work. I didn’t do a great job weaving it, and all hell broke loose on my Instagram page.”

According to Ripa, “people were fighting with each other” and “it got deeply personal.”

“I was like guys, it’s just a pie. Calm down,” she continued. “So that’s when I stopped posting things that I bake. I was just proud of myself, but people went to war with each other. And I was like ok, you can’t post anything anymore.”

Live with Kelly and Mark airs on weekdays. Check out their website for your local listings. Molinaro’s new cookbook, The Korean Vegan: Homemade, is out now.
