Kelly Ripa had a lot to say about being talkative this morning on Live with Kelly and Mark.

During their daily host chat, she and Mark Consuelos briefly rehashed what they were like as students and the reviews they would receive in their report cards.

Consuelos recalled, “I would get good grades, but the one negative would be ‘a little too social.'”

Ripa replied, “I would get ‘demonstrative,’ whatever that means.”

She proceeded to bring up a story about the word “yappy,” which has been employed to describe those who “possess the gift of gab” like herself.

“So the word ‘yappy’ has been — and I find that a slur!” she jokingly exclaimed.

Consuelos agreed, saying he would use the descriptor to refer to a dog.

Ripa continued, “Right, so it’s a 17th century word that used to be associated with dogs, and now they’re saying it’s associated with people who talk too much. But I don’t think I’m ‘yappy,’ I think I’m ‘gabby.'”

Consuelos once again agreed with his wife and co-host, who thinks that she’s “gabby under the right circumstances.” He praised Ripa for making particular events and social situations “easier,” to which she retorted, “Trust me, nobody can shut down a conversation like you.”

“When Mark doesn’t feel like being there, Mark let’s everyone know he doesn’t feel like being there,” she continued.

Following a burst of laughter, Consuelos asked, “I do?” as Ripa added, “Which forces me into yappy mode!”

As Ripa broke out into jazz hands, Consuelos teased, “You start tap dancing?”

After he asked if he’s “still like that,” Ripa confirmed he is. With a smug look on his face, Consuelos eventually claimed, “Sometimes I feel like just listening. I just like to listen.”

Ripa noted, “When you want to,” which Consuelos echoed.

“Like here, when I’m here,” he added, garnering him a round of applause from the studio audience. “Thank you! Yeah, I don’t like small talk.”

Once the applause died down, Ripa teased, “You’re being paid to talk here!”
