There’s nothing like Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos joking about their sex life — even if it’s a mere underlying theme in a conversation about tick bite prevention. During this morning’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, the married couple reflected on the time Ripa had to check Consuelos for the blood-sucking bug in an NSFW place.

The conversation began when the hosts discussed a study revealing that ticks use “static” to land on people and animals, leaving Ripa to suggest using “static guard” instead of traditional bug spray. The longtime Live host joked that she would walk out into a field of tall grass with legs covered in static guard to test her theory.

“Can we play tick check afterwards?” Consuelos slyly asked, to which Ripa replied, “No, I can find my own ticks. Thank you very much.”

The Riverdale alum’s sexually-coded question immediately made Ripa think of another story, as she recalled to the audience, “He asked me in the middle of the night to see if he had a tick on him. I’m not gonna say where but I was like, ‘Can we just have a little bit of mystery in our lives?’”

She continued, “I had to get my glasses on, had to get the cellphone flashlight. And he’s just sitting there. And then he’s like…,” before Consuelos seductively chimed in, “While you’re there…” 

When Consuelos added that they play the “While You’re There” game a lot, it was clear that the co-hosts were no longer talking about checking for ticks. The comment led Ripa to conclude that her husband needs to go to “yoga” so he’s flexible enough to conduct his own tick check.

Before they moved on from the discussion, she was sure to get in one dig at Michael Gelman, Live’s executive producer.

“Gelman hasn’t asked Mrs. Gelman to find a ‘tick’ in a long time,” she quipped. “He’s his own tick finder.”
