NextImg:Kelly Ripa Says She Broke the No-Staring Rule at a Nude Beach on ‘Live’: “Not Only Am I Staring, I Am Judging”

More On:

Kelly Ripa

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have “stumbled upon” quite a few nude beaches in their day — but that doesn’t stop them from staring, especially when there’s a lack of manscaping involved.

On this morning’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, the married couple recalled a trip they took to Corsica, France “many, many years ago,” where Ripa broke the No. 1 rule of a nude beach: no staring.

According to the longtime co-host, they were kayaking when she saw a man wearing “the weirdest bathing suit” she’s ever seen. While she initially thought he was wearing an Orlebar Brown bathing suit — which is a company that takes photographs from your phone and prints them on a pair of swimming trunks — she soon learned that that wasn’t the case.

“I famously have bad eyesight. No secret to anyone here. So I’m like, ‘What kind of a print is that?’ I’m like, ‘It’s weird. It’s kind of like a bird’s nest print,'” Ripa explained, while shaking her head in shame.

Ripa — who was mimicking the exaggerated way in which she was squinting her eyes —  truly believed the man was wearing a “flesh-colored” bathing suit with a “bird’s nest” print.

When Consuelos added that the guy “lifted anchor and left,” his wife replied, “He left because the creepy lady in the kayak was getting a little too close.”

As the All My Children alum continued reading the article, she learned that the No. 1 rule when visiting a nude beach is to avoid staring at other nude bathers.

“Oh, you’re not allowed to stare? Oh, well, we broke that etiquette. We were in Corsica like this, ‘What’s all this nudity?!’” she recalled. “That’s why I’m there. Not only am I staring, I am judging.”

It should be noted that this certainly isn’t the co-hosting duo’s first rodeo. Just last month, they took some time away from Live to go to Greece, where they, again, “accidentally” came across a nude beach.

“I forgot the best part of the hikes. Mark and I went on this other hike at this island and we stumbled, accidentally, on a nude beach,” Ripa told the audience at the time. “And I don’t mean a topless beach. I mean all nude. Total nudity. And it’s always guys. It’s always the wrong guys.”

She added, “Here’s the other thing: nobody loves these guys enough to tell them to put sunscreen on … A lot of burnt franks and beans. A lot.”
