Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos‘ children might be grown up, but they still look to their mom for a head scratch or a back rub.
On Live with Kelly and Mark‘s “I Love Mom” special on Friday, Ripa read that a “new survey says moms find more joy in parenthood than they expected.”
“I’m not sure what they expected but…,” she quipped.
Ripa could relate after reading that the survey of over 5,000 mothers from Peanut resulted in “84% of mothers don’t think that parenting is accurately portrayed in the content they consume,” while “91% of moms say that they felt more joy and fulfillment than they anticipated.”
“Speaking on behalf of myself, I was surprised at how much fulfillment I got,” she explained of becoming a mother to Michael (27), Lola (23), and Joaquin (22).
Her parenting partner, Consuelos, praised how “great” his wife is at being a mom to their three children, teasing that “it’s funny watching the kids’ relationship with [them] now.”
“Like, they’ll come give me a hug and, you know, [and say], ‘Hey, Dad,’ and Lola will express affection with me, but the boys kind of lay on you,” he shared. “They come over to you for back scratches, to be Mom-med.”
Ripa agreed, noting that “they still are like small children when it comes” to her.

“Like, our kids are like adults with Mark, and with me, it’s like, ‘Do you know what I could really use? A head scratch.’ ‘You know what I could really use? A back rub,'” she added.
Nonetheless, Ripa does not take that for granted, telling Live that she is “lucky that they still let [her] do it.”
“Having said that, I won’t be doing that this Mother’s Day because I’ll be on a plane,” she quipped.
