Dads, they have it so rough — said no mother ever.

While chatting about the lifelong benefits of dad jokes on this morning’s episode of Live with Kelly & Mark, Kelly Ripa couldn’t help but roll her eyes when Mark Consuelos dramatically claimed he, as a father, has “so much thrown” at him.

The opening segment began as a discussion about the “power of dad jokes.” According to a new study published by the British Psychological Society, dad jokes “have the capacity to make us better humans” — even though they’re cringey.

“It shows that father figures’ willingness to embarrass themselves repeatedly shows to kids that it’s OK.  They don’t even know it. They’re cringed out, they actually hate you for it. But you’re teaching the lesson not to care so much about how dumb you look,” Consuelos explained.

Ripa, whom he’s been married to for 27 years, added that he’s “one of the greatest dad joke-tellers of all time” — which he later confirmed.

“My kids cringe at my dad jokes. Also, I always have food on my face … They’re always so weirded out by the food on my face. Have you noticed that too?” Consuelos asked, to which Ripa replied, “Yeah, you always have food on your face. It’s weird.”

While food tends to miss the Riverdale alum’s mouth, he revealed that he can never actually feel it chilling on the side of his face.

“I think our nerve endings, as dads, because we’re getting so much stuff thrown at us, it’s like Teflon. It’s like a callus,” Consuelos said, prompting one of Ripa’s deepest eye rolls since they’ve begun hosting the show together back in April.

“Oh? Oh? What stuff is it that you think is being thrown at you specifically?” she inquired, before the actor reluctantly added, “Information. Um… Just information.”

Once Consuelos walked back his statement, Ripa decided to tell the audience one of her husband’s funnier dad jokes. The longtime host explained that it all started when they were vacationing in Mexico for a friend’s birthday.

“The beach attendant came over and he said, ‘It’s a flag system here. So you raise this flag if you want more drinks. You raise this flag if you want food. And you raise this flag if you just want to be left alone.’ And Mark says, ‘Which is the flag you raise if your wife is being mean to you?’” Ripa recalled through laughter.

Regarding the waiter’s reaction, Consuelos said, “He laughed. He got it.”
