Live with Kelly and Mark viewers were thrilled to welcome Kelly Ripa back to the show this morning.
After thanking Live‘s announcer Déjà Vu for filling in for her twice last week as co-host alongside Mark Consuelos, Ripa exclaimed that while being out sick, she “got to watch the show” that she typically works on.
“I’ve got to tell you, now I get it!” Ripa added. “I was a fan of the show! I was like, ‘Oh, I get it!’ This show oozes charm!”
Consuelos chimed in, “You never get sick, and I know it kills you,” which Ripa affirmed.
“I take it as a personal failure,” she explained, and assured fans that she feels “1,000% better.”
She continued, “I never appreciate how knock-on-wood healthy I am until I’m not, and then I’m such a baby and I’m such an angry patient.”
Consuelos slyly confirmed this with a discreet head nod.
“We can’t get sick at the same time,” he continued, likening Ripa to “president,” himself to “vice president,” and Live EP Michael Gelman to “Speaker of the House.”

Ripa quipped, “I like to call one of us a ‘designated survivor,’ but it alternates.”
Consuelos recalled that once Ripa came downstairs at home while she was sick, “everybody start[ed] backing away” from her, which he claimed “offended” her. “You’re like, ‘Why are you guys looking at me like that?'” he shared. “Because we don’t want to get sick!”
Ripa said “that’s not it at all,” alleging that everyone started “harassing” her after she entered the room because she had “left the bedroom.”
“Because do you think any of these savages would ask me if I need anything?” she ranted.
Consuelos jumped in to claim that he and his fellow family members text Ripa to ask what she needs in order to feel better, saying, “And you just don’t know what you want, so you want to come down and choose what you want. But that’s not our fault!”
However, Ripa argued that she’s “so conscientious about spreading viruses of any sort” in the house, that she even donned surgical gloves and a mask to protect her loved ones.
“So spare me all of your ‘Ahhh! She’s gonna get us sick!'” she exclaimed.
It’s great to have you back, Kelly!
