Kelly Ripa took a moment to honor the late Robert Redford on Live with Kelly and Mark this morning.

Shortly after Tuesday’s episode kicked off, Ripa brought up the “horrible news” about the “screen legend,” who died this morning at 89 years old.

“He’s somebody I think of as truly ageless and forever,” she shared. “His film career, his directing career, his activist career. He’s just accomplished so much.”

Mark Consuelos mentioned Redford’s involvement in the Sundance Film Festival, noting that the entertainment figure will “be missed.”

Ripa echoed, “He will truly be missed.”

While Ripa name-dropped The Sting and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid as two of Redford’s most iconic film credits, she cited one film that has stuck with her.

“But when I was a young actress in New York in the early ’90s, he did that movie Indecent Proposal,” she explained. “Remember, with Demi Moore? That started a trillion conversations at the dinner table? Like, ‘Well, what if someone offered you a million dollars?’ All of the angry conversations.”

Consuelos added, “Back when a million dollars was all the money in the world.”

Ripa continued, “Right… He’s just always been a person in the zeitgeist through all of the generations. So he will truly be missed. And we can all agree that he really started something with that film festival. I think he started the independent film festival as I know it.”

When reached by DECIDER, Rogers & Cowan PMK Chairman and CEO Cindi Berger shared the following statement surrounding Redford’s passing:

“Robert Redford passed away on September 16, 2025, at his home at Sundance in the mountains of Utah–the place he loved, surrounded by those he loved.  He will be missed greatly.  The family requests privacy.”
