Michael Gelman, the beloved executive producer of Live with Kelly and Mark, happily celebrated International Yoga Day by showing off an impressive headstand on this morning’s episode of the hit daytime talk show.
Ryan Seacrest — who left the show in April after six years of co-hosting with Kelly Ripa — was filling in for his successor, Mark Consuelos, when the duo began to chat all things yoga.
“I just want to see Gelman. It looks like he’s wearing a Men in Black outfit, costume — with his houndstooth jacket. But that’s really a Lululemon yoga set. Am I correct?” Ripa asked the EP, to which he replied, “Semi-correct.”
Apparently, a fun fact about Gelman is that he’s a yoga extraordinaire when he’s not hard at work in the Live studio — so much so that Seacrest jokingly referred to him as a “bragger.”
“Do you chant still when you do yoga?” Seacrest asked, before playfully imitating his friend. Meanwhile, Ripa persuaded Gelman to show off his well-practiced moves as she begged, “Give us one pose, Gelman! Give us your favorite pose. No. 17, the spread eagle! Come on!”
He then proceeded to remove his houndstooth blazer and masterfully execute a headstand right there on the stage.
Elsewhere in the convo, Seacrest proved that while he is not against a good yoga routine, he is certainly no pro like Gelman. The American Idol host recalled the time his friend invited him to a retreat in Tennessee where they had to do yoga for six straight hours.
“Six hours of anything? It doesn’t matter. Yoga or an airplane. 20 minutes! I can do yoga in 20 minutes! I’m good!” Seacrest exclaimed. “This guy says six hours and he’s thrilled. I look over and I go, ‘How far in are we?’ And he goes, ’90 minutes.'”
He added, “A guru came and he talked and talked and talked. It was great. But six hours of yoga? Come on. It defeats the purpose. My anxiety was so high at the end of this thing.”
