NextImg:Kelly Ripa Jokes That She’ll “Sacrifice” Herself to Take a Video of Mark Consuelos Showering for ‘Live’

More On:

Kelly Ripa

Understandably, Kelly Ripa would never turn down a chance to see Mark Consuelos in his birthday suit. On this morning’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, she jumped at the opportunity to film her husband eating an orange in the shower. Confused? We’ll fill you in.

A few years ago, Ripa came across an article stating the benefits of eating the citrus fruit in the shower, prompting the entire Live cast and crew to take videos of themselves testing out the trend. According to the longtime host, the article — which she found “fascinating and weird” — has “reared its ugly head again.”

“They are saying that when you eat oranges in the shower, of course, it’s the benefit of the scent, the aromatherapy of it all, which, I think, can probably be achieved with essential oils,” she said.

Ripa continued, “They’re saying that another practical reason for eating an orange in the shower is so that the juice doesn’t get everywhere. I say: if you are an adult and you’re eating an orange and getting juice everywhere, then perhaps switch to a less juicy fruit.”

Executive producer Michael Gelman then pulled up videos and pictures of himself, Ripa and producer Art Moore eating oranges in the shower.

“We have to make a Mark showering with an orange video,” Ripa proposed, before seductively adding, “I will sacrifice myself and shoot that. Because I had to shoot my own video with my short arm while peeling an orange.”

At the time, the actor was “out-of-town” (likely filming the teen drama Riverdale in Vancouver), so he wasn’t able to help her out.

Consuelos ultimately agreed to the task and joked that he would eat a “genetically modified sumo orange” for the bit rather than his first choice of a “juicy peach.” In that case, he probably would’ve had to find a different cameraman, as his wife is not a fan of the way he chows down on the fruit.

“The way you like to eat those peaches, you love a juicy peach,” Ripa cringed. “Drives me insane. Drives me crazy. It really does. Just the whole visual of it, the sound of it. I have to leave the room every time he eats a peach.”

Here’s hoping we get a video of Consuelos eating an orange in the shower on tomorrow’s episode!
