Kelly Ripa is proving that she’s still in the know, and is certainly “not a ma’am.”
During Ripa and Mark Consuelos‘ daily host chat on Live with Kelly and Mark this morning, she introduced their “yearly article on the tumbleweeds taking over Utah,” teasing to the studio audience that it was “the reason [they] all showed up today.”
Consuelos asked, “Is this a yearly thing?”
Ripa informed her husband and co-host that they “have a once-a-year tumblemageddon story where [they] cover the tumbleweeds that used to be just a completely Western desert phenomenon.”
“But now because of climate impact, we have tumbleweeds taking over a neighborhood,” she added.
As Live viewers were shown pictures of “tumblemageddon,” Ripa explained that “they’re engulfing streets, highways, [and] neighborhoods, [in] parts of Utah [and] Nevada over the weekend.”
“They are running amok,” she added. “The tumbleweeds will not be ignored!”
Consuelos shared that he “read something” about how the tumbleweeds originally made their way over.
“They were brought here from Russia or Ukraine, or something like that,” he said.

Live EP Michael Gelman chimed in from off-camera, “Yeah, they were an invasive species. I think you’re right.”
Consuelos continued, “They came over when they did the railroads. I could be wrong.”
Ripa exclaimed, “You mean somebody brought a tumbleweed here and went —,” as she feigned throwing a tumbleweed forward.
After Ripa joked, “Let’s play our favorite sport: kick the tumbleweed,” Consuelos questioned, “What are they calling it? Weedageddon?”
Ripa corrected her husband and co-host, telling him “Tumblemageddon,” but conceding that “Weedmageddon is better.”
“But Weedmageddon is probably [pot],” she teased, as she mimed holding a joint.
Consuelos quipped, “It’s like on the corner of the street right here.”
As some hoots and applause emerged from their in-studio viewers, Ripa honed in on one area of the audience and exclaimed, “Ok! I see someone that celebrates Weedmageddon.”
She continued, “Is that on 4/20? Yes, ma’am. Don’t you ma’am me. I know what 4/20 means. I’m not ma’am yet.”
