NextImg:Kelly Ripa Explains Spray Tans to Ryan Seacrest on ‘Live’: “I Go Full Nude!”

More On:

Kelly Ripa

“Look, it’s over kids. It’s over.” The depressing statement was one of the first to come out of Kelly Ripa‘s mouth on this morning’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark. While summer might be ending soon, she made sure to share how a spray tan helps trick our brains into thinking we still have more time.

As Ripa and Ryan Seacrest — who was filling in for Mark Consuelos — settled into their seats, the longtime host referred to the final weeks of August as the “Sunday Scaries, magnified, times 1,000.”

Since Live is airing pre-taped episodes for the rest of the month, Ripa noted that her summer break begins just as the summer is ending — and the trees on Long Island that start prematurely dropping leaves don’t let her forget it.

“I get really bent out of shape about it,” Ripa said. “August to me is like the beginning of summer. But the trees are like, ‘No, honey. It’s fall. You missed it. You missed all the fun out here.’”

Seacrest went on to read an article about how to combat the end-of-summer blues, where he revealed that Vitamin D helps — whether it be through a supplement or a lamp. The conversation ultimately landed right in Ripa’s wheelhouse when he asked if “fake tanner” could also work, prompting her to leave her seat to demonstrate the various positions involved in the popular beauty trend.

“Let me tell you about Spray Tan. Spray Tan — and I’m gonna use Spray Tan as a person,” Ripa began. “Spray Tan comes to the house, right? You can go to Spray Tan. I got a person that mobilizes and comes to the house with a tent.”

She continued, “You step inside the tent and Spray Tan comes and you do all these crazy body positions. Like, things you don’t even think about when I’m applying it to myself.”

When Seacrest asked if she wears “paper underwear,” Ripa exclaimed, “Guess what? I go full nude!” The All My Children alum explained that by the end of a spray-tanning session, you “suddenly” look “as if summer happened,” making your brain “immediately” believe that it did.

Elsewhere in the opening chat, Ripa joked about how she preserves the spray tan on her skin.

“[Hot baths are] bad for the spray tan,” she said. “I’ve taken to not bathing at all. I just gently wash under the armpits.”

Live with Kelly and Mark airs on weekdays. You can find local listings on their website.
