NextImg:Kelly Ripa Dares To Disrespect The Pumpkin Spice Latte On ‘Live’: “Leave The Pumpkin Spice In The Pumpkin Pie Where It Belongs”

More On:

Kelly Ripa

Kelly Ripa may have just given her most controversial opinion yet. On this morning’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, the longtime co-host dared to speak negatively about one of America’s favorite fall staples: the pumpkin spice latte.

In light of the tasty beverage’s 20th anniversary, Ripa and Mark Consuelos offered their debatable takes. When the latter asked the audience how they felt about pumpkin spice lattes, they broke out into cheers. However, Ripa felt as though we have gone a little too far with the fall flavor as a society.

“I just feel like we go overboard,” she said. “Starting in August, everybody is bombarded with pumpkin spice everything. How about if we leave the pumpkin spice in the pumpkin pie where it belongs?”

After Consuelos noted that it’s been two decades since pumpkin spice lattes were first created, Ripa replied, “I don’t feel like I’ve been complaining about it that long but I’ve definitely been complaining about it.”

At one point in the opening chat, the Riverdale alum even tried one for the first time on the air. While he said it “[smelled] OK,” he was thrown off by how “sweet” it was, prompting his wife to take a sip herself.

“This feels like it’s trying to please too many people at the same time,” Ripa — who said she’d rather try the flavor in a Chai latte — concluded, to which Consuelos added, “And give you just a little bit of diabetes.”

But just when we thought the pumpkin spice bashing was over, the actor revealed that he’s also not a fan of pumpkin pies. However, he admitted that he’s “come around” and will occasionally indulge in one around Thanksgiving.

“You’ll eat them, but I think it’s more out of being polite because I baked it and you don’t want to hurt my feelings,” Ripa speculated. “Which, I have no feelings anymore. My feelings are gone.”

Perhaps a pumpkin spice latte would restore them to their natural state?
