Kelly Ripa admitted this morning that she once thought one of the NFL‘s most famous players was two different people.

The talk show host made the funny confession on today’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark while discussing popular dog names with her co-host and husband, Mark Consuelos.

“A top trending dog name for 2023 is— what do you think it is?” Consuelos asked, but Ripa admitted she had already read the headline herself, so she knew the correct answer.

“Kelce, as in Travis Kelce,” Consuelos revealed with a smile as the audience cheered. Addressing Ripa, he added, “Or as you say, ‘Kelece,'” pronouncing the Kansas City Chiefs’ star’s last name as “kel-ee-che”

Ripa explained, “For the longest time, you know for the longest time I thought his last name was Kelece. I don’t know why, but that’s just how I saw it and that’s how I read it. So I kept confusing them as two different people: Travis Kelce and Travis Kelece.”

Thankfully, Ripa has sorted out her confusion and now knows there is only one Travis Kelce on the field. In fact, she and her husband even paid homage to the football star this past Halloween, when the couple dressed as Kelce and Taylor Swift.

Consuelos dressed in Kelce’s jersey for the occasion, while Ripa donned red lipstick and a long blonde wing to channel her inner Swift.

While kicking off the Live Halloween show, Ripa managed to nail the pronunciation of Kelce’s last name as she told the audience, “In 2023, no one played in football stadiums quite like Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.”
