Celebrities can still have their own celebrity crushes — who they may even marry! Mark Consuelos tackled an interesting ThriftBooks study on Monday’s Live with Kelly and Mark, reading that “17% of married readers typically picture their spouse when imagining the love interest in a novel.”

In fact, he insisted he would do the same.

“If I read a romance novel, I would think of my love interest,” he told his wife and co-host Kelly Ripa, who immediately ribbed him.

“If you read a romance novel, I would call the paramedics,” she quipped. “I would be like, ‘Something happened to my husband.'”

According to the article Consuelos had on hand, some also “have envisioned their celebrity crush” while reading romance novels, which he thought was “more of a woman thing.”

“Like your celebrity crush,” he explained. “Like, you know, fill in the blank. Brad Pitt, George Clooney.”

Ripa revealed Consuelos as her own “celebrity crush,” to which Consuelos teased, “Thank you. Good answer.”

Ripa then admitted, “But you’re also my husband, so I feel robbed of a true celebrity crush.”

Consuelos understood, telling her, “It’s like having your birthday on Christmas.”

Ripa replied, “Correct. Same. Same, but different.”

Nonetheless, Consuelos claimed the study, which concluded that men are “bigger fans” of romance novels than women, was “not right,” arguing that men don’t “typically go for romance novels.”

“But I could be wrong. I’ve been wrong 10 times today already,” he added.
