Mark Consuelos has been mistaking Kelly Ripa‘s “me-time” for Mark time.
On Live with Kelly and Mark this morning, Ripa cited a study revealing that “over half of women say that the shower is the only place they get ‘me time,'” specifying the figure as “a whopping 52%.”
“Now, if you are me and you’re showering, you will know that you don’t even get me time there because Mark only wants to have in-depth discussions about estate planning, our funerals, whether I want to be cremated or buried… during a shower!” she exclaimed. “And I’m like, ‘Can you close the door? Can I have three minutes alone?'”
Consuelos admitted, “this happens so many times.”
“I follow her in, and she’s going into the shower, and she closes the door and I want to keep talking,” he confessed. “And I’m talking to her. I’m like, well, we can be efficient here. You can shower, and I can talk to you and tell you what’s going on in my mind because that’s also very important!”
Nonetheless, he apologized to his wife, to which she replied, “Oh, that’s nice!”
Consuelos continued, “Once I hear that door close, we’re done talking. It can wait.”
Ripa cheerfully echoed that “it can wait,” as the studio audience gave Consuelos’ apology a round of applause. However, he issued one condition of his.
“I will reserve the right that if I come a knockin’, then it’s important,” he clarified.

As Ripa attempted to say that ” it’s never” the case, Consuelos interjected, “In cases of emergency, like there’s a fire in the house.”
“If I do this,” he added, knocking on their hosts’ desk in a particular pattern, “that means it’s hitting the fan. I need to talk to you.”
She questioned Consuelos as to whether she has ever “showered long enough for there to be an emergency that would occur,” noting that she’s “become a creature of efficiency.” After listing her credentials of hosting Live and raising three kids, she reiterated that she “know[s] about getting ready in a quick and efficient manner.”
“I’m not somebody that luxuriates, but I would like to wash my bits and pieces in privacy without an audience and without the heat escaping!” she noted. “That’s all I’m asking for!”
Consuelos graciously concluded that he’s gonna give Ripa her “me time.”
“I’m gonna give you your you time,” he promised.
