Do you have a fever, or are you just bored?

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos tackled this question on Live with Kelly and Mark on Thursday while cheekily putting a young audience member on the spot. The moment took place after Consuelos brought up how to “check if you have a fever without a thermometer.”

“Well, you call your mom,” he quipped. “You call your mom and you say, ‘Mom, I think I have a fever. Can you touch my forehead?'”

Ripa claimed that she “can tell by looking at [their] kids if they have a fever,” noting that their “ears get bright red” and “they just have a look to them.”

“Moms have special abilities. I can tell, there could be a kid right now that’s about to come down with a fever. Or it could just be excessive boredom,” she teased, as she honed in on a particular area of the audience.

At that moment, the cameras panned to a smiling child. As Consuelos quipped, “He’s gonna have a fever in a second,” Ripa checked in with the child and asked if he was feeling “excessive boredom,” to which he hilariously nodded while mouthing “yes.”

While Ripa assured the rest of the audience that “he’s fine,” Consuelos argued, “At least you’re not in school.”

Ripa echoed that it “could be worse,” proceeding to poke fun at their previous discussion about whether or not there are “actually bugs in your pistachios.”

“Think about how bored you’d be there,” she joked. “Here, you are learning about worms that are in your nuts.”

Live‘s executive producer Michael Gelman chimed in from off-camera, “It’s almost like school.”

Live with Kelly and Mark airs on weekdays. Check out their website for your local listings.
