Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos fleshed out their funny family dynamic on Live with Kelly and Mark this morning.

The conversation began after Consuelos read about the positive impact of parental humor, or “dad jokes.”

“People who were raised by adults who use humor were found to have a better view of their parents or caregivers,” he explained.

Ripa quipped, “Aww, that’s nice. Our kids must think the world of us.”

Consuelos teased that he “made about 25 dad jokes” during dinner the night before with their daughter Lola and her best friend.

“And they died. They were dying,” Consuelos claimed.

However, Ripa wasn’t so sure.

“Well, I mean… dying is a strong word,” she argued.

Although Consuelos felt that he “killed dinner last night,” Ripa said that they “politely laughed” at him and “tolerated” his dad jokes. Later on, Consuelos highlighted that he and Ripa “laugh a lot with [their] kids,” as both agreed that their “kids are funny.”

“I have to say, you know, I forget how funny our kids are,” Ripa added.

Consuelos chimed in, “One of them could be funnier.”

While Ripa agreed, she acknowledged, “I think it’s the age thing.”

“But I have to say, they really are funny. When you get them together, they are funny,” Ripa noted.

Consuelos teased, “Very handsome, not funny.”

Ripa clarified that she “”think[s] he’s pretty funny when you see him with his siblings,” pointing out how “similar” the unnamed child is to Consuelos.

“You are basically the mirror images of each other,” she continued.

Consuelos added, “And that’s why I’m judging his humor harshly?”

After Ripa confirmed that Consuelos “judge[s] him harshly,” the co-host couple remained silent for a moment, staring at each other, until Consuelos broke the silence.

“Are we talking about the same person?” he asked.

Ripa said, “I think that when I say ‘mirror image,’ people think I’m talking about Michael, because Michael is your mirror image. But I feel like your other self is the other one, who shall remain nameless.”

While Michael is Ripa and Consuelos’ eldest son, they were likely referring to their youngest, Joaquin.

Their conversation took a turn when Consuelos joked, “And who knows? I may have other kids out there that I don’t even know about!”

In turn, Ripa teased, “That’s true. Every time our doorbell rings, I’m like, ‘Here it comes.'”

Consuelos swiftly clarified that he doesn’t have other kids out there, quipping that he “was making a dad joke.”
