NextImg:Kathy Griffin diagnosed with ‘extreme case’ of ‘complex PTSD’ after MRI

Kathy Griffin shared she has been diagnosed with “complex PTSD” after getting an MRI.

The comedian revealed her results on TikTok and asked followers for recommendations and tips on how to cope with bouts of anxiety and depression.

“Let’s talk about PTSD. Never talked about it publicly,” she began her video posted last Tuesday.

“You can laugh or whatever, but I’ve been diagnosed with complex PTSD, and it’s called an extreme case.”

Griffin, 62, explained with a “wink” that her issues began about five and a half years ago, around the same time she posed for a photo holding a replica of former President Donald Trump’s severed head.

The “My Life on the D-List” star immediately faced backlash both in her personal life and in her career over the artistic decision.

CNN fired Griffin from co-hosting its New Year’s Eve special, and she also was placed on a no-fly list as the Secret Service investigated her. She also lost many stand-up comedy gigs.

The “Fashion Police” alum also said her stage 1 lung cancer diagnosis in 2021 “didn’t help.”

Griffin, 62, said her diagnosis is an “extreme case.”

In the comments section, a follower recommended Griffin try prescription medication in conjunction with EDMR therapy, which is a “mental health treatment technique” in which a person moves their eyes in a specific way while processing traumatic memories in order to “change emotions, thoughts or behaviors,” according to the Cleveland Clinic.

“Yes, I am going to try EMDR,” Griffin responded.

“My good pal Sia has been helping me out. She recommended a really good doctor.”

Griffin shared on Easter Sunday that she was having an MRI done but did not share the reason behind it; however, many followers guessed at the time that it might have had something to do with her cancer battle.

The “Suddenly Susan” alum underwent surgery to remove a portion of her left lung and later declared she was cancer-free.

“It will heal, but I’m sort of enjoying it. I’m a good two octaves higher, I think … it’s higher than Mariah Carey,” she once joked.
