The deadly shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs parade Wednesday claimed the lives of at least one person and left 10 to 15 people injured, officials said in a press conference Wednesday.

Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves took to the podium to confirm the number of people affected in the fatal incident, and said no NFL players or children were among those harmed.

She added that the case is still under investigation and it is going to take officers “a little bit” to determine the case of why the shooting occurred.

Graves also confirmed that police had two suspects in custody, and said she heard fans got involved in the apprehension of the alleged criminals — although, she was unable to confirm that herself.

“This is not Kansas City,” she said in an emotional statement toward the end of the press conference.

“I’m angered by what happened but I want you to know that [law enforcement] did the best that they could and I’m so proud of them that they ran into danger.”

Graves concluded, “We were here for a safe celebration and because of two bad actors or more, we are standing here today.”

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas was also present for the presser and said he was as “heartbroken as anybody.”

“When you have people who decide to bring guns to events … all of us start to become members of this club that none of us want to be a part of,” he said.

“This is absolutely a tragedy the likes of which we would’ve never expected in Kansas City,” Lucas added before ensuring those who committed these acts will be “brought to justice.”

“I don’t want us to have to in our country for every big event worry about being shot,” he also said.

Lucas commended the 800 officers staffed who were running “towards danger” when shots were fired.

“To the people who were injured in this tragedy, our hearts go out to you and your families,” he said.

Lucas informed the public that further updates on the active investigation will be posted via the police department’s X account.

He also said President Biden and the White House have offered federal assistance in the investigation.

The celebration kicked off earlier on Wednesday with cheers and joy in Kansas City as all of the Chiefs, including tight end Travis Kelce and quarterback Patrick Mahomes, arrived for the grand parade.

Thousands of fans were overjoyed to ring in their NFL team’s win against the San Francisco 49ers last Sunday.

The players were accompanied by their family members, such as Kelce’s mom, Donna Kelce, and Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes.

Following the tragic ordeal, Patrick, 28, took to social media to share a heartfelt message.

He posted via X Wednesday afternoon, “Praying for Kansas City…????????????????????????,”

Kelce, 34, has yet to address the matter. His girlfriend, Taylor Swift, was not present for the parade, as she was en route to Australia for her upcoming Eras Tour shows.
