NextImg:Kamala Harris earned more in book royalties last year than Biden: WH financial disclosures

Vice President Kamala Harris made more than president off of book royalties last year, according to their financial disclosures released by the White House on Monday.

The 2022 disclosures show that Biden, 80, made “less than $201” in royalties off his 2007 book “Promises to Keep: On Life” and between  $2,501 and $5,000 from “Promise Me, Dad: A Year of Hope, Hardship, and Purpose,” his memoir published in 2017.

In comparison, Harris, 58, reported earning $41,104 in royalties from her 2019 memoir “The Truths We Hold.” On top of that, she also reported $40,209 in royalties from her 2019 children’s book, “SuperHeroes Are Everywhere.”

The disclosure forms also show that Biden took out a home equity loan from M&T Bank against one of his Delaware houses for between $15,001 and $50,000 in 2022.

In February, it was reported that the Bidens secured the line of credit against their Rehoboth beach home back on Dec. 5, 2022.

It’s unclear why the first family took out the loan against the house – which Biden and his wife Jill  reportedly purchased in 2017 for nearly $3 million.

The president also appears to have added a “Treasury bill” valued between $1,001 and  $15,000 to his financial portfolio since his last disclosure.

The first lady reported earning between $5,001 and $15,000 in royalties from her 2020 children’s book “Joey — The Story of Joe Biden,” and less than $1,000 from her 2012 children’s book “Don’t Forget, God Bless Our Troops.”

She also reported between $15,001 and $50,000 in income for speaking and writing engagements paid to her S-Corp, Giacoppa Corp.

In total, the disclosures show the Bidens own investments and holdings worth somewhere between $1.09 million and $2.57 million, and owe between $250,000 and $500,000 on a mortgage for one of their Delaware homes.

Tax returns released by the White House last month showed that the president and first lady reported $579,014 in earnings and paid 23.8% in federal taxes last year, both down from 2021.

The Bidens paid $137,658 in federal income taxes in 2022, significantly less than the $150,439 the first couple paid the previous year.
