Kaley Cuoco says she’s open to reprising her Big Bang Theory character Penny as “it was some of the best years of [her] life.”
The 38-year-old actress starred in the CBS sitcom from 2007 to 2019.
“I spent 12 years playing that role, and it really set off my career. I owe a lot to that character, to that show, to [creator] Chuck Lorre,” she told People. “It was some of the best years of my life, and some of the most fun I’ve ever had.”
When asked if she would ever be open to reprising her character of Penny, Cuoco said, “I would absolutely reprise that role.”
“100%,” adds the star, who has partnered with Subaru to celebrate National Make a Dog’s Day on October 22. “I love that character, and I always will.”
The Big Bang Theory followed a group of science-obsessed friends living in California and secured 10 Emmy wins during its run.
In addition to Cuoco, the series starred Jim Parsons, Mayim Bialik, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, and Johnny Galecki, among others.
A spinoff prequel titled Young Sheldon (based on Parsons’ character Sheldon Cooper) was released in 2017 and concluded earlier this year. Iain Armitage starred as a younger version of the character while Parsons narrated the series.
Young Sheldon then gave rise to another spinoff, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, which debuted on October 17. Meanwhile, a Max spinoff of The Big Bang Theory starring Kevin Sussman, Brian Posehn, and Lauren Lapkus is reportedly in the works.
Cuoco’s next content is Season 2 of her Peacock series Based on a True Story, which follows “a realtor, a former tennis star and a plumber” who “seize a unique opportunity to capitalize on America’s obsession with true crime,” per IMDB.
“I am so excited about it,” says the actress. “We had such a great time shooting season 1, and I think that we made an even better season 2.”
“It’s very funny. It’s very dark … and I’m thrilled,” she added.
The Big Bang Theory is available to stream on Max. Based on a True Story Season 2 will premiere on Peacock on November 21.
