Details are beginning to emerge regarding Julio Urias’ arrest Sunday for domestic violence.
Urias was seen shoving a woman into a fence Sunday at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, site of the soccer match between LAFC and Inter Miami featuring Lionel Messi, according to TMZ.
The alleged shove happened “at some point” after the match.
The report says stadium workers “at first broke up the altercation” but then Urias “went into a nearby car with the woman,” at which point “things once again got heated.”
At that point, police approached the vehicle, got Urias and the woman out of the car and put the Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander under arrest for feloney domestic violence, per TMZ.
He was released from jail Monday on $50,000 bond and has a court date scheduled for Sept. 27.
On Wednesday, Major League Baseball placed Urias on administrative leave “until further notice as MLB continues its ongoing investigation.”
Urias, 27, will be continued to be paid during the leave but cannot take the field.
“They have to go through the process — players’ association, Julio’s group. Baseball is working through this,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said, according to ESPN.
Urias was previously involved in a domestic violence incident in 2019 when he was accused of pushing a woman.
The lefty was not charged as the alleged victim told investigators she fell.
However, Urias was suspended 20 games by MLB under the Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Child Abuse Policy.
The southpaw, a pending free agent, has a 4.60 ERA this year in 117 1/3 innings and owns a 3.11 career ERA.
