“It’s going to be 50,000 against one,” Soto told me, matter-of-factly.

The fan response is obvious to him, and he’s OK with it. Yankee fans are proud, passionate and practically unfamiliar with losing. And to them, Soto represents a serious setback.

“They’re going to try to get on me, you know. It’s part of it,” Soto said.
