NextImg:Juan Soto next team odds: Yankees favored, but Mets gaining steam in free agency

Juan Soto’s next team is about to be a massive topic of conversation as his free agency begins and the hot stove begins to boil.

Betting odds on where a player will sign in free agency or be traded has been an interesting way to gauge where the public believes an athlete will end up.

DraftKings has posted odds on where Soto will sign in free agency, and he is expected to return to the Yankees at -170 (62.96 percent implied).

However, this number has come down a bit, as the Yankees opened at -225 (69.23 percent implied) to re-sign the 26-year-old slugger.

It’s no surprise to see the Mets right on their tail as the second favorite to land Soto at +200 (33.33 percent implied), down significantly from the +360 (21.74 percent implied) it was at open.

The right fielder is expected to command an insane contract from any team he signs on to, with sources indicating to The Post’s Jon Heyman that he’ll likely fetch a $700 million contract.

There are only so many teams that can even afford that, leaving options slim.

The Dodgers are +700 to win the Soto sweepstakes, followed by the Cubs 10/1 and Shohei Ohtani runner-up-Blue Jays at 18/1.

The Post’s Jon Heyman previously reported the Dodgers‘ interest in Soto likely resulting in the odds pricing.

The Mets’ odds appeared to climb down when The Post’s Mike Puma reported that they were among the first teams to check in on Soto as his season came to a close.

New York’s President of Baseball Operations, David Stearns, said that the world is their oyster this offseason.

“The entirety of the player universe is potentially accessible to us,” Stearns said. “That’s an enormous opportunity. I envision us taking advantage of that opportunity and being aggressive in certain spaces.”

Soto played out the final year of his contract during his first year with the Yankees in 2024, posting one of the best years of his career.

He made no promise after the season was over that he wanted to be back with the Yankees and refused to say they had an edge in bringing him back.
