They say life comes at you fast, and former Bucks guard Jrue Holiday can certainly attest to that.
A day after Holiday had expressed to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he wanted to sign an extension and retire as a member of the Bucks, he found himself traded.
Holiday was part of the three-team blockbuster trade Wednesday that finally ended the ongoing saga of whether Damian Lillard would remain with the Trail Blazers.
Holiday will now call Portland home as part of the package that sent Lillard to the Bucks.
“Would love to [sign an extension],” Holiday told the Journal Sentinel the day before. “Before I even won here I think I said I’m a Buck for life and I mean that like deep in my heart. I don’t want to play for any other team. I think we have a chance to continue to do great things as the Bucks team and organization so I want to be in Milwaukee.”
He added: “Being with the Bucks, having three of the best seasons I’ve had in my career, and not only that but having a winning record, being a top team or a top-three team, I don’t think I was ever on a top three-team until I came to the Bucks.”
The 33-year-old is heading to a much different situation in Portland than the one he was in with the Bucks.
The Trail Blazers are entering a rebuild centered around No. 3 overall pick Scoot Henderson, which is what prompted Lillard to finally want out of Portland to begin with.
The Blazers are getting a solid veteran player in Holiday.
He is coming off a season in which he averaged a career-best 19.3 points a game and shot 47.9 percent from the field.

Holiday is expected to make at least $34.9 million this season, and he has a $37.4 million player option for next season.
