Things took an NSFW turn on this morning’s episode of The View as a conversation about cellphone usage turned into an awkward story about Joy Behar‘s visit to the gynecologist.
The comedian shared the memory after Whoopi Goldberg introduced the Hot Topics segment — in which a person asked how to handle people checking their phones during a presentation.
“I almost should recuse myself from the conversation because I am such an addict, as you know Whoopi,” Behar said as she held up her iPhone. “I don’t care when people use their phones at dinner. It really doesn’t bother me at all.”
However, she added that the “gynecologist’s office” is the “one place” you should not bring your phone — as she learned the hard way.
“I told this once before, but it is a true story,” Behar said. “I was getting a Pap smear. My phone went off. And it was playing ‘When the Saints Go Marching In.’ That is a true story. I did not make that up.”
When Sunny Hostin asked why she chose that song as her ringtone, Behar admitted, “I like it,” before reiterating that it “went off right in the middle of the Pap smear.”
“It’s better than when you had ‘Call Me Maybe,'” Sara Haines chimed in. “It looks like you’re hitting on your gynecologist.”

Behar’s blunder at the doctor’s office was hardly the only time she’s had problems with her phone. Earlier this year, the co-host’s Siri went off in the middle of a “serious” segment on The View as she admitted to the panel that the device “goes off all the time.”
A similar situation happened back in November 2022 when Behar was filling in as moderator for Goldberg, who was absent that day. As she struggled to turn off the music that randomly erupted from her phone, Hostin and Haines were forced to work together to lower the volume.
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
