Joy Behar may be feeling the wrath of the Swifties after today’s episode of The View. The longtime co-host suggested that everyone is getting a little too excited about Taylor Swift as she continues to dominate the box office with her extremely popular concert tour and its accompanying film, the Eras Tour movie.
During a conversation about an advice column in which a reader wrote in to complain about their friend selling their daughter a $900 ticket to Swift’s tour — which was originally purchased for $300 — the Hot Topics table debated the ethics of reselling, especially when friends are involved.
After hearing the specifics of the sale, Behar quipped, “With friends like that, who needs loan sharks?” before sharing her own loan story with the panel. Behar said she once borrowed $10,000 from a friend, who charged her an even higher interest rate than a bank would have.
“I was very broke. After my divorce, I got fired, I had nothing … is that a friend, or not?” she asked, but Whoopi Goldberg immediately confirmed that yes, Behar’s friend was looking out for her “in her best sights.”
“She gave you money when other folks didn’t,” Goldberg told her, but Behar insisted the situation “interfered” with their friendship, proclaiming, “You’re either my friend or a business associate.”
Alyssa Farah Griffin appeared to be right on the same page (in a surprise twist), slamming the seller mentioned in the advice column as “a dirty, rotten scalper.”
“Taylor Swift wouldn’t have liked it, for the record,” the self-professed Swiftie added, before decrying the $900 price tag.
“My first car cost twice that. That’s a big amount of savings,” Griffin said, but she was drowned out by Goldberg, who made unimpressed noises before countering, “Listen, she didn’t have to offer the ticket to the girl at all. If you go to people and you ask them for their help and they give you the help, and they say, this is what it’s gonna cost, you either accept it or you don’t.”

Behar had a solution, though: “This addiction to Taylor Swift has to stop!” she demanded.
Sunny Hostin chimed in too, suggesting anyone who can’t hand over the cash for a stadium ticket head to a theater instead.
“She’s coming out with a movie, go watch the movie!” she exclaimed. But if Behar’s comments today are any indication, we doubt she’ll be checking out the movie or the tour.
The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
