As the world gears up for Donald Trump to surrender for arraignment in New York City after being indicted for the hush money he allegedly paid adult film star Stormy Daniels following their affair, the ladies of The View have weighed in on the issue.
While the former president reportedly plans to plead not guilty, Alyssa Farah Griffin — who worked under his administration until 2020 — debunked rumors that Trump is “loving this,” even though he’s made a reported “$8 million” since being indicted.
“I know him well enough to know he’s not loving this. He’s spiraling,” she said. “He’s somebody who, despite his terrible actions, does think about legacy and how he’s perceived and now his life — whether it’s his obituary — is going to say he was indicted, the first American president to be.”
She also noted that his team is likely “freaking out” over the potential gag order that could be issued by the judge, which would prevent him from speaking publicly about the case.
“He wants to be able to go out and frame this his own way and spin the public and that may not be able to happen,” she said, before Sunny Hostin told the panel that she believes he “wants to be the victim.”
Meanwhile, Joy Behar — always known for a witty one-liner, courtesy of her stand-up comedian days — pointed out that “a lot of MAGAs like to say that he’s Christ-like.”
She joked, “I don’t remember Jesus paying a porn star hush money. Did I miss that in the Bible somewhere?”
When Griffin brought it back to a more serious note, she added, “I think he’s spiraling over the fact that he was the first president to be indicted, but he’s gonna take full advantage of the spectacle.”
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
