The View

Joy Behar thinks she’s been passed over for a plumb spot in Donald Trump‘s cabinet. The longtime co-host reacted to the appointment of Fox News host Pete Hegseth as Trump’s defense secretary on this morning’s episode of The View, feigning outrage that she hasn’t been granted her own position.

Hegseth, who will lead the Department of Defense in the second Trump administration, currently serves as co-host of Fox & Friends Weekend and has been with Fox for a decade, per the Associated Press.

While discussing his appointment on the show this morning, Behar noted that she’s been on The View the longest of anyone at the Hot Topics table, having joined the show during its very first season in 1997. Thus, she reasoned, if Trump is looking to appoint some TV stars, she should be next in line, naturally.

“You know what, also, I feel insulted,” she exclaimed. “I’m a morning TV host. And I’ve been here the longest.”

She then asked, “Where’s my ambassadorship to Italy, Donald?” referring to her Italian roots. As the table chuckled, Behar quipped, “Was it something I said?”

While she was smiling during the bit, she dropped her grin and rolled her eyes at the end, showing how she really feels about the incumbent president, whom she recently dubbed a “fascist pig” on an October episode of The View.

While discussing the revealing interview Trump’s former Chief of Staff John Kelly gave to The New York Times — in which he accused his one-time boss of praising Hitler for doing “some good things” more than once — Behar tore into Trump.

“I don’t even know what to say anymore. If people still follow this fascist pig, then I don’t know what else to say, I really don’t,” Behar said.

She continued, “It’s like, how many times do we have to hear him referring to immigrants as animals? And Hitler called cleansing Germany of all those ‘parasites,’ referring to immigrants, and he called Jews ‘lice,’ and this guy, Trump, calls people ‘vermin.’ It’s the same language that Hitler used, OK?”

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
