Joy Behar dished out some work advice on this morning’s episode of The View, sharing what she thinks is the quickest way someone can get canned from a job.

Behar — who was memorably fired from the daytime talk show back in 2013, before being reinstated at the Hot Topics table in 2015 — told the panel today that you’ve got to play nice if you want to stick around.

“No matter how high your ratings are, if you tick off someone at the top, they will get rid of you,” she advised, before making the remark a little more personal: “Uh-huh, that has happened to me.”

She gave a little smirk and raised her eyebrows as the table just laughed, unsure what to say. Whoopi Goldberg, experienced moderator she is, thankfully jumped in.

She looked offstage and into the audience to ask producer Brian Teta, “Shall I just let that go and move on?”

Teta could be seen nodding, and Goldberg swiftly brought the conversation to a close. But Behar’s snarky remark was hardly the first time she’s spoken about being fired. While she didn’t specify a certain job or workplace in her comments on today’s show, she has spoken openly about being ousted from The View, mentioning her sudden exit in a July 2022 episode.

“I was glad to be fired,” Behar said at the time. “I basically was sick of the show at that point for some reason, I don’t even remember why.”

Behar began her tenure on The View in 1997, joining the show during its very first season alongside Meredith Vieira, Star Jones, Debbie Matenopoulos and creator Barbara Walters. After being axed in 2013, she guest-hosted on some episodes and was brought back as a full-time co-host in 2015, a job she’s held ever since.

While Behar previously claimed she was “glad” to be fired from The View, in an interview with People in 2017, Behar said she left unwillingly, claiming, “Somebody wanted me gone. It was not 100 percent my choice.”

But The View isn’t the only job Behar has been cut from. She recalled on an episode earlier this year that she had once been fired from Good Morning America, after which she was treated to a Chippendales party.

Joking that the visit was a “reward for firing me,” Behar added, “Who doesn’t like to watch a bunch of greasy guys and put money in their crotch practically? It’s not the classiest thing to do.”

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
