Joy Behar has been a TV staple for decades, but even she slips up from time to time. On this morning’s episode of The View, the co-host appeared shocked to be caught on camera while she presumably thought the show was still playing a clip, not filming the Hot Topics table.

The snafu took place just moments into the show as Behar introduced the first Hot Topic of Friday’s episode.

“Yesterday, I don’t know if you saw the show — we were preempted in New York City because of a certain mayor — but we were talking about Melania Trump‘s interview where she made this claim about the state of the United States economy,” Behar said.

The show then aired a portion of Trump’s interview, which the panel discussed in part on yesterday’s show. In the clip, Melania says, “The country is suffering. People are not able to buy usual necessities for their families.”

Behar must have assumed the clip would go on a little longer, because when the camera re-focused to the studio, it showed her with a perplexed look on her face and turned to one of her co-hosts. While it was unclear what she was saying initially, it was clear when Behar dismissively waved her hand and said, “Whatever,” then turned her focus to the camera.

Clearly shocked, she let out a small gasp and raised her eyebrows as the panel laughed. Behar, the pro she is, grinned as she looked out at the audience with her chin in her hand.

Alyssa Farah Griffin cheekily told her from the other side of the Hot Topics table, “You’re on TV!”

Of course, this being Behar, she carried out the rest of the segment without a flaw, recovering seamlessly from the moment.
